Rem garson upgrades line in luxe move
The contemporary leather sportswear line, produced by Garson International, is headed in the direction of luxury. While the line will remain mostly sportswear, owner Marc Garson said that now seemed like the right time to upgrade the collection.
“I have decided to make Rem Garson more upscale,” he said. “I have seen too many companies going cheaper, and I didn’t want to go that route.”
So, with the Rem line, Garson said he has added fur accents to the collection, like on the shearling jackets and coats and the knit-weave fur sweaters. He said he has also upgraded the quality of the skins and added small accessories to skirts and pants, like a brown suede fringe belt to a camel suede skirt. While he said that he still considers the label to be a contemporary one, he now considers it on the high-end of contemporary. His goal is to make leather sportswear a lifestyle way of dressing.
The Rem Garson line wholesale range goes from $75 to $1,000, with the average item wholesaling for $300. Garson said he expects a 20 percent increase in sales for the upgraded line. This will bring the volume from $8 million to $10 million.
Garson International, which runs the Rem line, also holds the leather licenses for Fubu and Lucky Brand.
